(Refugee) migrations to the EU from January to March 2022

According to UNHCR, from January to the end of March 2022, 17,172 migrants arrived in the EU by sea and land: 15,441 by sea and 1,731 by land. Between January and the end of March, Spain received  most migrants (8,790), followed by Italy, Greece and Cyprus. In order of size, they are Tunisians, Egyptians, Bangladeshis, Syrians and Ivorians. In March alone, there were 3,151 migrants, which is less than in the same month last year. But now, of course, there is also the Ukrainian crisis.

According to the IOM, 354 people drowned in January 2022; according to the UNHCR, 261 drowned.
