Werkhuizenstraat 17 is the home of Foyer’s Men’s Group. This is a place for men from Molenbeek and surrounding areas to share social, cultural and educational activities. Everyone is welcome to come and meet others, cook together, attend a film screening or a lecture, practise yoga or talk about current affairs, parenting or life in Brussels. This relatively new section of the Foyer family was established in 2016 at the request of a number of men who were using Foyer’s other services.
At Werkhuizenstraat 36, you’ll find Foyer’s carpentry studio. This Neighbourhood Workshop is a place for locals who want to make wooden objects, furniture or art, under the watchful eye of an experienced carpenter. Over the years this has grown into a professionally equipped workshop as well as a place for locals to meet. Those who use it are primarily – though not exclusively – men. More and more women are beginning to take part too.
