Within Foyer’s Roma Services, Zakaria Almarendi supports Syrian Dom families in their interactions with schools, public administrations and various support services. His role is to facilitate dialogue, help overcome language barriers and guide families as they navigate daily life in Belgium. Originally from Syria, Zakaria has been living in Belgium for several years. After working in a variety of jobs, he chose to pursue a role that is particularly meaningful to him: supporting people and working directly in the community. His work also takes him into schools, where he assists families with administrative procedures and helps facilitate communication between families and the different stakeholders involved.
