Solemn unveiling of the European heritage label awarded to museum MMM

7 September 2022

Museum MMM (Migratiemuseummigration) is the first Brussels museum to be recognised by the European Commission as a candidate for the European Heritage Label.

“Candidate sites for the European Heritage Label must have a symbolic European value. They must have played an important role in the history and culture of Europe and/or the building of the Union.” (European Commission)

eschiedenis en cultuur van Europa en/of de opbouw van de Unie.” (Europese Commissie)

The jury found it very valuable that Museum MMM, meeting the most up-to-date criteria of what is expected from a contemporary museum, succeeds in conveying these European values to its visitors.

On Tuesday, 7 September, Prime Minister Vervoort unveiled the label during a small ceremony in the presence of Mrs Cathérine Moureaux, Mayor of Molenbeek, and a representative of the European Commission.
