As she says farewell after 42 years at Foyer, Hilde De Smedt wanted to leave one message for the next generation.
Throughout her career, she witnessed how ideas can grow into projects, how collaboration creates opportunities, and how commitment can make a real difference in people’s lives.
But meaningful change takes time, she emphasizes.
“You don’t build your dreams in one or two years.”

For Hilde, it is important to keep seeing possibilities, even when progress feels slow. Turning ideas into reality requires patience, perseverance, and a willingness to take responsibility.
Her message to young people is therefore simple, yet powerful:
“Keep seeing the possibilities and go for it.”
An invitation to seize opportunities, work together, and continue believing that positive change is possible.
