Recap – Internationale Roma Day

International Roma Day was celebrated in style at Foyer with fascinating conversations and exchanges. Three generations shared their stories of what it was like to come to Belgium, grow up in Brussels, the difficulties they faced, the values and traditions they are passing on to the next generations, and how they embrace their Roma identity.

Thank you to our speakers for sharing their stories and, of course, to everyone who was there to make it such a lovely afternoon!

 

To mark International Roma Day on 8 April, the Roma and Travellers Service and the Medialab at Foyer vzw produced a video. With this video, we aim to make people aware of their prejudices and clichés, holding up a mirror to them and showing that their prejudices do not always correspond with reality.
