The action group “definitive closure”/’social liquidation’ continues with
The march of the mourners in resistance!
On 7 October, our action got off to a dynamic start, with a group of associations from Molenbeek symbolically closing their doors to raise awareness and warn the public and the regional and federal authorities. We then came out again during the mega-demonstration on 14 October, when a delegation of about 500 people from Molenbeek expressed their anger on the streets. Now we invite you to join our “march of the mourners in resistance” on Wednesday 19 October from 3 p.m. (Bonnevie Park). With this action, we are giving voice to the tears and cries of resistance of workers, residents and target groups of non-profit organisations who refuse to be sold as products!
From Bonnevie Park, the “mourners in resistance”, followed by a procession of people from the non-profit sector in Molenbeek, will make their way to the canal. Not to throw themselves in, but to proclaim their resistance – in a passionate but realistic way – and to demand a fair revaluation and recognition of their work!
Essential associations and services (already weakened by a lack of resources) will be under more pressure than ever in the context of uncertainty surrounding their teams, municipal services and the OCMW (Public Centre for Social Welfare). Nevertheless, they will once again be called upon to support people who are already vulnerable due to the successive crises of recent years, with the exclusion of around 4,000 people from unemployment benefits in 2026!
In addition, GeCo contracts are regularly under threat. In many associations, however, these positions are reserved for coordinators who are responsible for managing and supervising the teams. If this threat becomes a reality, it could result in lasting disruption to the management of these organisations.
Come and join us in taking action along the canal and let our tears of anger and resistance flow!
