Foyer des Jeunes has officially inaugurated its new Sound Studio, a creative space designed to support young people in developing artistic, cultural and media projects. The inauguration took place in the presence of Yves De Bruyn from the Service général de l’Inspection de la Culture of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, who joined Foyer Director Loredana Marchi in cutting the ribbon and discovering the new facility.
Equipped with a soundproof recording booth, a podcast-style setup with professional microphones and a soundboard, and a range of musical instruments, the studio will enable young people to create podcasts, record music, experiment with rap, poetry and slam, produce voice-overs, and develop audiovisual projects.
Beyond its technical equipment, the Sound Studio reflects Foyer des Jeunes’ commitment to media education and youth empowerment. Through creating content themselves, young people can develop technical and creative skills while gaining a better understanding of how media is produced and shared. The space will also support future documentary and fiction projects, giving young people new opportunities to tell their stories and share their perspectives.
This approach has already led to notable achievements. Last year, a group of young people created Triathlon pour la Paix, a documentary following their journey from southern Spain to northern Morocco in support of Palestinian children. The film was selected for screening at the Brussels Short Film Festival, highlighting the creativity and engagement of the young participants.
With the opening of the new Sound Studio, Foyer des Jeunes continues to invest in spaces that foster creativity, expression and active citizenship, while providing young people with the tools to bring their ideas to life.
