On Saturday 7 March from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., a debate will take place at the Migration Museum as part of the Belgica Biladi exhibition.
In 1964, Belgium signed an agreement with Morocco to attract workers for industry. What began as labour migration grew, over several generations, into an active and lasting presence in Belgian society. Belgica Biladi brings this story together through contributions from more than twenty experts and countless memories. It is a shared Belgian-Moroccan history, told through lives, commitments and dreams — from tagine to chips.
The theme of the round table is the ‘Economic, political and social contributions of Belgian Moroccans’. Our speakers will share their insights and experiences in two panel discussions.
The first panel discussion will focus on economic, political and institutional contributions. The following experts will speak on this theme.
The social, local and transnational contributions are the focus of the second panel discussion. We are pleased to welcome the following experts:
