Brussels week of multilinguism

29 January 2026

Brussels is officially bilingual, but many people speak other languages in addition to Dutch and/or French. To highlight this richness, the Brussels Council for Multilingualism is organising the first Brussels Multilingualism Week. The Brussels Council for Multilingualism was established in September 2020.

From 9 to 14 February, numerous activities will take place in the Beursgebouw and throughout the region to celebrate Brussels’ linguistic diversity and promote multilingualism. Schools, associations, universities, companies, libraries and cultural institutions will show how they pursue these objectives during this week. The Beursgebouw, the beating heart of the week, will host activities open to all every evening and sometimes during the day. On Saturday 14 February, there will be a lot of activities and a series of debates. Our colleagues from the Partners in Multilingualism and Intercultural Mediation service will also be there.
