Studiebox: Foyer’s homework assistance for Dutch-speaking secondary school pupils in Brussels.

20 January 2021

For many years, Foyer has assisted dozens of Brussels pupils between the ages of 12 and 18 with their homework and studying their subject matter in greater depth.

Every young person is unique and different. Therefore, our approach is based on tailor-made methods: the needs of each pupil are measured individually and monitored by experienced tutors. We regularly provide feedback to the parents and the classroom teacher in order to arrive at the best possible support.

At the start of each individual trajectory, we start working practically by observing how the pupil gets started with the homework: the quality, the time span or even: the way of reasoning. We then work on specific points of attention.  We also make sure that the pupils learn to work independently and in a structured way and to set priorities. This helps them not only now in secondary school, but also in later life. It sharpens the appetite for further study and for continuing to acquire knowledge in professional life.

Practicalities:

For the study box, Foyer has made three quiet rooms available, equipped with computers.

The activities take place in the Werkhuizenstraat 34 in 1080 Molenbeek at the following times:

Wednesday from 1.30 pm till 3.30 pm

Friday from 4.30 pm to 6 pm.
