Molenbeek through a different lens

Molenbeek through a different lens

Molenbeek is not the homogeneous municipality that is usually depicted in the media, neither in its residents nor in its urban landscape. Sometimes divided between high and low Molenbeek, the municipality is also home to a flurry of places in between, spaces of cultural, popular and architectural intermingling. The photos in this series are taken by Julius Maximilian Rogenhofer, a recent arrival to Molenbeek, primarily in the surroundings of Gare de l’Ouest and Beekkant. They invite viewers to see and feel the municipality in another light than the usual one. This is already a very different view from the streets between rue des Ateliers/Werkhuizenstraat, where Foyer and Jes are located, and rue Piersstraat.
